Visas for relatives in the Philippines

We get a lot of requests from our existing clients and our former clients about getting visas for brothers, sisters, cousins, etc in the Philippines.

Of course we understand this. Family is everything in the Philippines, and most Filipinos would move mountains to make life better for their family members. Your Filipino spouse would love the opportunity to help a relative to move to Australia if they could.

One of the problems is that a precedent has been set! I don’t know the ins and outs or US immigration, but it is possible for Filipinos in America to “petition” to have their relatives migrate. I gather it’s a slow process, but it can and does happen. And many assume that Australia is the same.

Australian Partner Visas. Should you include the kids?

Many Australian men get into relationships with Filipina ladies who are single mums. I married a single mum myself, and did so happily. I never had a problem with accepting and loving a child as my own, just because I wasn’t the original father. Being a dad is more a matter of heart and principle than it is of biology. And for yourselves, the addition of a child makes an instant family. More love all round.

With Australian Partner Visas and Prospective Marriage Visas, there is an option to include dependent children in the same application. They are known as “secondary applicants”, and adding them is generally fairly easy. They get the same visa as their mum at the same time. Continue reading

Australian Visa Application Charges increase again 1 September 2013

Yes, DIAC have done it again. Revenue-raising at its best! Partner visas in particular are made up of captive audiences who really have no choice.

Please note that there is NOTHING we can do about this. This affects previous quotes, and it affects existing applications which haven’t been lodged yet and which will be lodged after 1 September 2013.
